Religious Freedom & Business Global Awards: Rio de Janeiro 2016
The Religious Freedom & Business Global Awards are presented in the host city of each summer and winter Olympics, beginning in Rio 2016.
The Global Awards recognize best advances and innovations by businesses in improving respect for religious freedom. Gold, Silver & Bronze medals – with cash awards that businesses direct to religious freedom organizations – are given in four categories:
Multinational corporations employing more than 500 employees in each of 2 or more countries
Small businesses employing fewer than 500 employees
Young entrepreneurs under age 30 leading a business in operation for less than 5 years
Women in business serving as CEO or president of any business of any size
The RFB Group
Winners will become members of the “Religious Freedom & Business Group” (The RFB Group) that gives expert advice to businesses on advancing religious freedom in ways that benefit the bottom line.
Submission & Judging Standards
For-profit businesses from any country eligible to be nominated – nominees will be put forward through Brazilian Embassies worldwide as well as through the UN Global Compact’s Business for Peace Office. Awards are based on the degree to which the business has programs or policies that promote respect for religious freedom within the company, its community, or ideally both.
Award winners will direct the Award prize money to a religious freedom organization of their choice from a list of those helping to educate the global business community about how religious freedom is good for business and/or engaging the business community in joining forces with government and non-government organizations in promoting respect for freedom of religion or belief.
Rio 2016 –> Only the beginning!
The Religious Freedom & Business Foundation with the Brazilian government and society will continue to sponsor the biennial awards in the host cities of future Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea (2018) and Tokyo (2020).
